We are an Association of multi-disciplinary professionals who provide families with a no-court approach to separation and divorce, reducing the time and costs typically associated with separation, minimizing stress, and allowing healing to begin sooner for all family members, particularly children. We want to break down the misconception that separation and divorce, a time of great change in families, has to be combative, expensive and unduly stressful.
We work with families to help them become empowered with their health. We educate them on natural solutions for everyone in their family so they can have natural solutions at their finger tips and reduce their exposure to toxic chemicals which can lead to unwanted conditions and diseases. Making physical and emotional health simple and empowered is our goal.
The Family Support Institute (FSI) is a provincial non-profit charitable society registered in 1985. FSI supports and connects with approximately 10,000 families each year who have a family member with a disability. This support to families stems mainly from our large volunteer network of Resource Parents (RP’s) and Resource Family Members (RFM’s). Currently our RP/RFM Network supports over 200 volunteer parents who support families regionally by sharing experiences and expertise, connecting families with each other, guiding families to supports and services in their regions, and facilitating training and educational sessions. Our volunteers all have children with disabilities and have specialized knowledge in areas such as preschool years, educational opportunities, respite options, family support and advocacy. FSI has developed 12 different workshops that are presented all over BC. All of our workshops were written by and are presented by parents. FSI is unique in Canada and is the only grass roots, parent-to-parent support organization with a broad volunteer base and mandate.

A small Victoria owned and operated company that began in 2002. Our mission here at STR is to cultivate learning confidence amount students and their families in the Greater Victoria area. We purposefully and intentionally match families seeking one-on-one tutoring for their student to a local tutor with expertise in the student’s particular learning strengths and challenges. We believe that experiencing success and confidence in one’s schooling experience is foundational in experiencing success and confidence in life learning across the board. And we believe our tutoring resources can support this! Our company engages parents by offering resources that are individually tailored to the student and families needs. We approach tutoring from a strengths based approach, and as such, engage parents intentionally to understand not just the learning challenges of their student, but also their strengths. This is our starting point in both matching a tutor to a student, as well as engaging in tutoring sessions.
